U.S. Foreign Policy (English)

The Department of State, established in 1789, is the oldest of the cabinet –level agencies in the executive branch of the U.S. Government. Its mission is to “shape and sustain a peaceful, prosperous, just, and democratic world and to foster conditions for stability and progress for the benefit of the American people and people everywhere.” While all eShop collections can be tied, in some sense, to this broad mission, the Foreign Policy category examines how foreign policy is, and has been, carried out in the United States, along with the basic values, such as democracy and human rights, and the changing issues of the day, are reflected in policy priorities.
